Your guide, Justin Kingsland was born in North Wales. He graduated from Military college in 1979 and joined the 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards.  He specialized in arctic mountain warfare and winter survival and was selected for the British Army Special Forces.

Justin left the British Army in the late 1990 and became a commercial helicopter pilot in Los Angeles, California. In 1991, he accepted a leadership position with BMW North America.

Working closely with the BMW Performance Center in South Carolina from 2001 to 2010, Justin helped develop the BMW adventure off-road motorcycle school and their Smoky Mountain motorcycle adventure tours. In 2010, Triumph Motorcycle, a British Company, asked Justin to develop their off-road motorcycle adventure program in the Appalachian and Smoky Mountains. He developed an international adventure off-road rider training program before leaving Triumph and becoming CEO and founder of
Overland Unlimited Inc, DBA Highland Excursion.

During the past 20 years, Justin has always worked in the outdoors. As a professional development manager at BMW, he introduced dealers to adventure training, confidence development, team building, and leadership development through adventure training programs.  He is also a certified EMS Wilderness First Responder, Mental Health First Responder, and a qualified NC State Wilderness Rescue and Rope Rescue Technician, serving on the Cashiers/Glenville Rock Rescue Team.

Team building and leadership development is Justin’s highest core value. Throughout his professional career, he has organized, led and facilitated the development of many professional groups. This included various industry advertising groups, and a manufacturer’s motorcycle race team, creating the world’s fastest production bike in its class for BMW in 2009. He most enjoys helping independent people move towards interdependence and seeing the network and grow into healthy team players. He is the consummate middleman, eager to assist others to achieve a common goal. Justin Kingsland has built a reputation as a successful leader and agent of change.

In February 2016 Justin moved to Highlands NC with his 6 years old daughter Ashlyn and started Highland Excursion. He has worked closely with the National Forest Service and obtained a USDA special use permit which enables him to operate as an official expedition and mountain guide in the Great Smoky Mountain National Forest.

In 2013 Justin founded Overland Unlimited Bridge of Hope, a 501C3 non-profit organization to help Veterans and Civilians overcome Post Traumatic Stress – Warrior Survival School is for veterans and civilians.

Justin’s mountain guide qualifications include:  NC Mountain Search and Rescue Alpine Specialist, Wilderness Medical First Responder, NC Rock Rescue Technician,  Justin is an active member of the Glenville and Cashiers Rescue Squad and  NC Emergency Services Chaplain.
